Tip #15: Focus on Meaningful Relationships
Taking time to give to the meaningful relationships in our lives can have a direct effect on our health through happiness, connection, giving back, and so much more.
How can we continue to cultivate strong healthy relationships with our family, friends, loved ones, and community?
With your partner: make it a priority to carve out one-on-one time that has nothing to do with kids or work. A time to talk and share your thoughts, and spend quality time together can go a long way to maintaining a healthy relationship.
With your kids: Set up simple “parent-kid” dates with each child. It doesn’t have to be all day long but a couple hours here and there can go a long way to staying connected with your kids and ensuring a space where they feel comfortable talking with you about what is going on in their life.
With your family and friends: Zoom happy hours are a great way to stay connected with our family and friends that aren’t close by. Even though you aren’t connecting in-person you are still pouring into that relationship from afar.
With your community: Volunteer and give of your time to your community. Community connections are so important to our overall health and well-being. Volunteer at church, at a food pantry, for your local nature or wildlife preserve. Hospitals have a lot of programs where local volunteers are needed.
